Puzzle 0002 - Booze in the pool
Correct answer:
Pool volume: 15,000 * 10,000 * 3,000 = 450,000,000,000mm^3
Convert to ml: 450,000,000,000/1000 = 450,000,000ml (1ml = 1cm^3 or 1000mm^3)
Take 90%: 450,000,000 * 0.9 = 405,000,000ml
Determine volume of gin (1/6th): 405,000,000 / 6 = 67,500,000ml
Determine volume of tonic (5/6ths): 67,500,000 * 5 = 337,500,000ml
Bottles of gin: 67,500,000 / 750 = 90,000 750ml bottles
Bottles of tonic: 337,500,000 / 250 = 1,350,000 250ml bottles
Cost of gin: 90,000 * 20 = $1,800,000
Cost of tonic: 1,350,000 * 2.25 = $3,037,500
Total cost: 1,800,000 + 3,037,500 = $4,837,500
